Aurora, named after Aurora, New York, was established in 1857. By 1881, Aurora was the first city in the world to illuminate all of its streets with electric lights, giving birth to its current moniker, "The City of Lights."

Today, Aurora is a diverse and vibrant community with a population of 157,000, making it the second largest city in Illinois. Aurora is home to three colleges and six major parks encompassing 450 acres.
